Regional Schools 2016

Saturday the 30th saw the Regional round of the National Schools competition played at Hassenbrook Academy in Stanford le Hope Essex.

40 school teams from the Region were playing for qualification to the National Finals in March in three age groups under 14 16 and 19.

A full day’s netball which at times was highly competitive and outstanding had a large group of spectators enthralled in the qualifying rounds.

In the two under 14 sections Berkhamsted School and St Edmunds College came out on top with unbeaten performances followed in their respective sections by Brentwood and Greensward Academy.

In the under 16 sections St Albans High school maintained an unbeaten run to top section 3 with Norwich School as runners up and King John edging section 4 by one point from Ipswich High.

The under 19 sections were a lot closer Berkhamsted topped their group undefeated with Culford School second place but the other section went to the wire with three schools on 21 points only separated by goal average with Norwich School coming out on top with SEEVIC runners up.

The semi-finals saw the winners of each group playing the runner up from the other group in each age bracket.

In the under 14 group the results were St Edmunds 11 - Brentwood 6 and Berkhamsted 13 - Greensward 6.

In the Under 16 group the results were St Albans 13 - Ipswich 5 and King John 9 - Norwich School 8.

In the Under 19 group Norwich School 10 - Culford 6 and Berkhamsted 12 - SEEVIC 7.

 

This resulted in the six original group winners competing in the three finals the results for which were

U 14 Final   Berkhamsted 10 – St Edmunds College 4

U16 Final      St Albans 9 - King John 7

U19 Final      Berkhamsted 14 - Norwich School 9

Congratulations to the Regional champions Berkhamsted School at Under 14 and under 19 and St Albans High School at Under 16.

 

For the National Finals two schools per age group qualify with EAST representatives being

Under 14 Berkhamsted School and St Edmunds College both from Hertfordshire

Under 16 St Albans High School from Hertfordshire and King John School from East Essex

Under 19 Berkhamsted School from Hertfordshire and Norwich School from Norfolk.
